New Bungay Black Belt

There is a new black belt in Bungay, Jayden Howgate (aged 9) who attends Bungay Primary School battled not only the snow but several other students in order to be awarded his dan grading in Taekwondo.

Jayden who has been training with Mr Gillett since he was 5 years old travelled the 160 miles to Coventry on March 3rd to perform in front of Grandmaster Oldham, Master Aucello  and other senior grades.  He had to perform his patterns, step-sparring, sparring and terminology as well as present a written thesis to get the coveted black belt.  Jayden has become a role model for younger students in the club and has already started helping to teach other students in the class, he is the 41st black belt from Bungay in its 15 year history.

The club trains in Hall 1 Bungay High School on Tuesdays 7-8pm, Wednesdays 4-5pm and Thursdays 7-8.30pm and is very friendly and welcoming, many students train as families and are working their way towards their black belt.  This journey normally takes between 3-5 years  and is greatly valued by potential employers as a demonstration of determination, commitment and diligence.
