A also a massive thank you goes to GTUK Examiner Master King 7th Dan from Wellingborough, who watched proceedings closely, encouraging students on their techniques and quizzing them on their Korean terminology.

Next Grading Date

The next grading is Sunday 2nd April starting at the earlier time of 10am so we can try and finish by 12, in the Sports Hall at Bungay High School (arrive no later than 9.45am).  Please bring £30 cash (if possible or bank transfer is fine) and your license and grading record booklet.  Parents can watch from the viewing area upstairs.

Easter Holidays

We are on holiday for 2 weeks over Easter so no Taekwondo training until Tuesday 18th April 2023 but if you want some cool Bungay Taekwondo branded clothing then you can order any Bungay hoodies or T shirts via Kicking-Man.uk

 

British Taekwondo Championship Report

Bungay Taekwondo club took 11 competitors to Coventry at the weekend to compete in the 2023 GTUK British Championships and came back with a stunning 20 medals, every single competitor battled their way to either patterns or sparring podiums with some even getting on both!

There were golds galore with club instructor Clinton Gillett gaining the double for black belt veteran sparring and patterns.  Christian Everett battled to gold in the heavy weight black belt males whilst Bronwen Back won gold in the junior girls patterns and a bronze for sparring.  James Gowing also gained a gold for sparring in the pee wee coloured belts with his sister, Ali Gowing gaining a gold for special technique and 2 silvers in coloured belt dragons (under 8 years old) Oscar Glaysher got gold for sparring and silver for patterns in the same age category.  Ollie Wren jumped super high to get gold for pee wee special technique and a bronze for sparring whilst William George was proud to get gold for sparring and silver for patterns in the junior boys division.  Alex Goff performed superbly to get gold in his junior pattern category.  Jonty Gillett showed great grit and resilience to get a bronze in the pee wee boys sparring.The day was rounded off by club assistant instructor Gavin White putting on a superb display to get silver for patterns and bronze for sparring in the senior male black belt section.

It was a long day but everyone travelled back to East Anglia with heads held high.  The club is always ready to welcome new recruits to this dynamic and explosive martial art.

 

The next competition of the year is on Saturday 27th May for anyone interested please complete the entry form and return by Tuesday 23rd May.

The Instructors of Stanwick Taekwon-Do would like to invite you to this year’s annual Northants Interclub Tournament.

Saturday 27th May will see the Stanwick Tkd Club host this year’s annual Northants Interclub Tournament. This year’s interclub brings together members from Stanwick, Grange Park, Wellingborough, Wollaston, Northampton, Raunds, Iceni and Bungay for what’s sure to be a fun day out for everyone.

There will be patterns and sparring divisions, as well as destruction categories available to adult students. As always, the clubs will be competing for the Interclub Trophy. An awarded to the club with the most successes throughout the day. You can enter as many of the events for your grade and as age as you would like.

All students must have a valid licence to compete, and as safety is always uppermost in our minds, those who wish to spar in the Tournament will need the following sparring equipment:

•Hand, Feet and Head Guard.
•Groin Guard (compulsory for men and boys).

Whether you want to compete or just watch…everyone’s welcome. Why not bring along your Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, Uncles, Aunts, Brothers, Sisters and Friends? It’s going to be a great day…so just come along.

Don’t miss this day…it’s a great chance to meet and get to know others like you, who are all Taekwon-Do Martial Artists.

Students put on a superb demonstration of their Taekwondo to our examiner Master Steve King who was most impressed with the standard.

He gave some great little bits of guidance to help students further develop and improve.

All passed with flying colours and will look forward to training again in 2023.

The first lesson back is Tuesday 3rd January.
